First day

The actual source of the Deveron is hard to find, it's in among a whole boggy area. The route i recommend is: start at Badenyon in Glenbuchat (the problem is that there isn't a bus to there) and walk North past the ruin called 'Ryntaing' on the map..... over the watershed and you're pretty near the source.
Leaving Badenyon in Glenbuchat

Near the source of the Deveron
Then you can follow the burn downstream. Some bits are a bit rough, but there are paths here-and-there, then as you come downstream you come on old roads. Maybe you could get a pal to meet you with a car near the Upper Cabrach church (while you're there, look for the gravestone of the shepherd who was killed in an avalanche)

And here's a tune to hum or whistle all day as you walk:

The Highlands of Banffshire This is an old tune, it's in Scott Skinner's book, published about 1900, but he didn't make up the tune himself, he says it was already 200 years old by that time
